Our team at Dr. Gerety's would like to take this opportunity to emphasize the importance of preventive dentistry. Children with healthy mouths learn to speak more quickly and clearly. They typically have better general health, because disease in the mouth can lead to problems in the rest of the body. A healthy mouth is more attractive which promotes confidence in your child’s appearance. Preventive dentistry will result in less expensive treatment and starts with the first tooth. We encourage you to bring your child into our office for a dental health evaluation. We will create a personalized program of home care for your child. This program will include, but is not limited to, diet analysis, brushing & flossing advice, and fluoride recommendations. By following these instructions, you can help give your child a lifetime of healthy habits.

In summary: Preventive dentistry for children includes: proper brushing habits, regular flossing, dental development, use of fluorides, good oral habits, orthodontics, parent involvement, proper diet , sealants and sports safety .
